Lynn Crawford started in each of his four years for the Grove City College football team from 1965 to 1968, helping the Wolverines compile one of the finest four-year records in program history.
Over his final three seasons, Crawford started on both the offensive and defensive lines, cementing his status as Grove City’s last “60-minute man.”
After starting as a freshman at defensive tackle in 1965, Crawford moved into the lineup on both sides of the ball in 1966, aiding Grove City in its first undefeated season in 40 years as the Wolverines finished 8-0-1.
The Grove City defense held seven of its nine foes to one touchdown or less while Grove City’s record-setting offense averaged 30 points per game that year.
A graduate of Shaler (Pa.) High School, Crawford earned All-West Penn Conference honors in 1966. As a junior the next season, Crawford earned Pittsburgh Press All-District First Team after his two-way efforts helped the Wolverines finish 6-3.
He then co-captained the 1968 team, which finished 7-2 overall under head coach Jack Behringer. With Crawford anchoring the defensive line, Grove City allowed just 99 points that season.
Grove City compiled a 25-9-2 overall record during Crawford’s career.
A Dean’s List student and honors graduate of the College, Crawford received his bachelor’s degree in economics in 1969. After serving as a U.S. Naval Officer from 1969 to 1972, he added his M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1974.
