Brian Moran capped his stellar baseball career at Grove City College by becoming the program’s first All-American following the 2008 season.
A prototypical five-tool player in center field for the Wolverines, Moran earned First Team All-America honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association and D3Baseball.com as a senior.
He also earned the prestigious Rawlings Gold Glove award for his stellar defense in the out field that season.
Moran helped lead Grove City to the Presidents’ Athletic Conference title in 2008, along with the program’s first trip to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
Grove City became the first conference baseball team to earn an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament. In five postseason games that season, Moran went 11 for 19. He went 4 for 5 with a home run while driving in six runs in an 11-10 win over Thiel in the conference tournament title game.
As a senior, Moran set Grove City single-season records with 45 runs scored, 59 hits, 34 stolen bases and a .559 on-base percentage. He hit .454 and earned the conference’s Player of the Year award.
In 2007, Moran earned the first of his two All-PAC First Team honors by hitting .419 and stealing 29 bases.
Moran concluded his career as Grove City’s career leader in batting average (.436), slugging percentage (.730), on-base percentage (.516) and stolen bases (63). Moran owns the conference career record for stolen bases and he ranks second all-time in conference history in career batting average.
A native of Columbia, Md., Moran graduated with a bachelor’s degree in marketing management.
