Box Score FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Grove City College women's lacrosse team earned its sixth straight victory Monday afternoon by picking up a 10-5 non-conference road decision over Fredonia State at University Stadium.
Freshman goaltender
Elyse Kiggins (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley) recorded a season-high 11 saves for the Wolverines (6-1). Meanwhile, a balanced attack paced Grove City's offensive effort as four players scored multiple goals.
Junior midfielder
Madison Nazigian (Forest, Va./Jefferson Forest) led Grove City with three goals. Senior attack
Brooke Stoltzfus (Elverson, Pa./Conestoga Christian), sophomore midfielder
Lucy Martin (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) and freshman defender
Amber Wartman (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) all scored twice and freshman defender
Sarah Jackson (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield) added a goal.
Grove City trailed 3-1 before surging ahead as Nazigian scored twice and Stoltzfus added a goal. The Wolverines took the lead for good with 10:23 left in the third quarter when Wartman's unassisted goal broke a 4-4 tie. The Wolverines led 7-4 after three quarters.Â
Martin also added an assist for the Wolverines and added a team-leading six ground balls. Jackson picked up five ground balls and freshman midfielder
Emily Arnold (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) tallied four ground balls.Â
Wartman caused three turnovers while Arnold and Nazigian caused two turnovers. Nazigian led Grove City with four draw controls.
Each team had 23 shots. Grove City had 22 turnovers while Fredonia State committed 27 turnovers.Â
Grove City will begin its inaugural season of Presidents' Athletic Conference competition Thursday night when the Wolverines host Saint Vincent at 7 p.m. at Robert E. Thorn Field.
