Colton Hudson (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) earned Defensive Player of the Week in men's soccer while freshman midfielder
Ava Soley (Butler, Pa./Butler) captured Newcomer of the Week in women's soccer.
Hudson helped Grove City to a pair of shutouts last week while limiting opponents to seven total shots in the two matches. Thursday night in a 0-0 draw with Penn State Behrend, the Wolverine defense limited the Lions to five total shots and only one on goal. Saturday at La Roche, the Hudson-led unit held the hosts to one shot on goal and two total shots. Grove City (2-0-3) has four shutouts in five matches this year.Â
Soley scored both Grove City goals last Saturday afternoon in a 2-0 victory at No. 11 Case Western Reserve. She opened the scoring at 30:59, then added helped sew up the win with her second goal at 79:13.
Soley ranks second on the squad with five goals and 10 points this season.Â
Both soccer teams open conference play Wednesday at home against Bethany. The men host Bethany at 4:30 p.m. while the women's team (3-0-1) hosts Bethany at 7 p.m.
