GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Senior forward Ryan Merrick (Cranberry Township, Pa./Eden Christian) scored twice Friday evening while senior midfielder Noah Gray (Glen Mills, Pa./The Christian Academy) tallied a pair of assists as the Grove City College men's soccer team secured a 2-0 victory over visiting Baldwin Wallace in non-conference action at Don Lyle Field.

Merrick scored twice in a 12-minute span of the first half to give the Wolverines (1-0-1) their two-goal lead. He opened the scoring at 11:56 after receiving an assist from Gray. Merrick then doubled the lead to 2-0 at 24:00, with Gray again providing the assist. 

Grove City outshot Baldwin Wallace, 17-9, including a 9-4 margin in shots on goal. The Wolverines outshot Baldwin Wallace in the first half, 12-5.

Grove City also had nine corner kicks while Baldwin Wallace (1-1) earned three corner kicks. 

Senior goalkeeper Anthony D'Ippolito (Mars, Pa./Eden Christian) earned the shutout victory by making four saves in his 2026 debut. 

Grove City will continue its season-opening four-match homestand by hosting Calvin at 6 p.m. Saturday. It is a rematch of the 2025 NCAA Tournament first round match between the teams, won by Calvin in double overtime, 1-0.
