NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Senior
Audrey Karwowski (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) and junior
Cayla Lawrence (Mendon, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) earned wins in middle distance events Saturday to highlight a strong day for the Grove City College women's track and field team at the Westminster Invitational.
Karwowski won the 800 meters in a time of 2 minutes, 15.70 seconds while Lawrence posted a winning tim of 4:46.70 in the 1500.Â
Lawrence edged sophomore teammate
Julianna Lindberg (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) in the 1500 as Lindberg recorded a runner-up time of 4:48.90. Lindberg also took third in the 800 (2:18.13).
Sophomore
Nadine Lauffer (New Castle, Pa.) placed second in the 400 with a time of 58.34 while sophomore
Kiara White (Perkiomenville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) took third in the 200 meters (25.34). White, Lauffer, sophomore
Lucy Gyergyo (Wexford, Pa./Eden Christian) and sophomore
Hannah Roegiers (Marion, N.Y./Marion Central) combined for a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter relay (49.56).
Gyergyo also took fourth in the triple jump by posting a best mark of 36 feet, 4 inches. White took fifth in the 100 meters (12.40). Sophomore
Rebekah Burger (San Diego, Calif./Cambridge) finished sixth in the 1500 (5:07.07) and freshman
Erika Doolittle (Clarington, Pa./Brookville) took sixth in the 5000 meters (19:49.52).
Grove City will return to action this Thursday at Slippery Rock University's John Papa Invitational.
