GENEVA, Ohio -- The Grove City College women's track and field team continued its preparation for the upcoming Presidents' Athletic Conference Indoor Championships by competing at the Youngstown State Last Chance Meet on Friday and then the SPIRE College Games Saturday.
Sophomore
Lucy Gyergyo (Wexford, Pa./Eden Christian) helped lead Grove City at SPIRE by winning the triple jump. Gyergyo posted a school-record leap of 36 feet, 3 inches Saturday.Â
Senior
Audrey Karwowski (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) posted Grove City's top track finish at SPIRE as she placed third in the 800. Karwowski recorded a season-best time of 2 minutes, 19.94 seconds.Â
Sophomore
Julianna Lindberg (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) earned fourth in the mile (5:15.67) while junior
Cayla Lawrence (Mendon, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) followed in fifth with a time of 5:20.56. Lindberg added a sixth-place finish in the 800 (2:22.08).
Senior
Megan Wise (West Sunbury, Pa./Moniteau) captured sixth in the shot put with a top effort of 36-3 1/2.Â
Sophomore
Rebekah Burger (San Diego, Calif./Cambridge) finished seventh in the 5000 meters (19:40.60). Junior
Kendall Coddington (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) cleared 5-1 in the high jump to take 10th place.
Friday night at YSU, sophomore
Hannah Herrmann (Hilton, N.Y./Paul V. Moore) broke her own school record in the pole vault by clearing 11-9 3/4. Herrmann won the unseeded division of the women's pole vault.Â
The Wolverine thinclads return to action Friday at 5 p.m. in Mount Union's Tune-Up meet in Alliance, Ohio.
