GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's water polo team improved to 3-1 in Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III play Saturday by earning a pair of home wins Saturday at James E. Longnecker Pool.
Grove City opened the day with a 17-13 victory over Connecticut College. The Wolverines then earned a 15-14 victory over Penn State Behrend in the nightcap as freshman
Emily Addison (Eads, Tenn./Faith Heritage Christian) scored in the closing moments to break a 14-14 deadlock.
Addison scored four times against Behrend as three Wolverine players scored multiple goals. Sophomore
Frances Baksa (Longwood, Fla./Lake Mary) scored six times while junior
Shastyn Tihansky (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton) fired in five goals. Tihansky also assisted on five goals while Addison, Baksa and senior
Kiley Sill (Virginia Beach, Fla./Princess Anne) all had two assists.
Sophomore
Emma Strahorn (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn) and freshman
Amelia Hervey (Naperville, Ill./Metea Valley) also recorded assists.Â

Lea Steen (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) all had two steals. Baksa also blocked two shots. Steen earned the victory by stopping nine shots.Â
Grove City trailed 8-6 at halftime and faced an 11-10 deficit after three quarters.Â
Grove City jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the first half Saturday morning against Connecticut College. The Camels cut the lead to 12-10 by the end of the third quarter but Grove City sewed up the win with five fourth-quarter goals.Â
Baksa and Tihansky combined for a dozen goals as each player scored six times. Sill and Strahorn both scored a pair of goals while Hervey also tallied a goal.Â
Tihansky assisted five goals in the opener while Baksa chalked up three assists. Hervey and Sill both had two assists while Strahorn and senior
Candace Scalise (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence) both picked up an assist.Â
Tihansky led the defense with four steals. Baksa added three thefts. Steen secured her first win of the day by stopping 11 shots.Â
Grove City honored Scalise, Sill and Steen Saturday as part of Senior Day festivities.Â
The Wolverines return to action next weekend with four CWPA Division III matches at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis.
