GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's water polo team closed its home and regular season schedules Wednesday afternoon by dropping a 17-9 decision to Division II Gannon in a non-conference clash of longtime western Pennsylvania foes at James E. Longnecker Pool.
Four Grove City players scored in Wednesday's match. Junior
Shastyn Tihansky (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton) and sophomore
Frances Baksa (Longwood, Fla./Lake Mary) both scored three times while senior
Kiley Sill (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) added a pair of goals. Freshman
Emily Addison (Eads, Tenn./Faith Heritage Christian) also scored for Grove City, which trailed 7-5 at halftime.
Freshman
Amelia Hervey (Naperville, Ill./Metea Valley) recorded three assists while Sill had two assists. Senior
Candace Scalise (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence) and sophomore
Emma Strahorn (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn) also tallied assists.
Sill led the defense with three steals. In goal, senior
Lea Steen (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) made six saves.
Grove City returns to action April 10-12 when the Wolverines compete in the Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III Championships in Norton, Mass.
