ERIE, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's water polo team dropped a pair of decisions Saturday to Division I opponents in non-conference action held at Hagery Family Events Center. Grove City opened the day with an 18-7 setback to Saint Francis. Host Mercyhurst then picked up a 17-6 victory over the Wolverines in Saturday night's finale.
Four Grove City players scored in the opener, with three players posting a pair of goals. Junior
Shastyn Tihansky (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton), sophomore
Frances Baksa (Longwood, Fla./Lake Mary) and sophomore
Emma Strahorn (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn) all scored twice while senior
Candace Scalise (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence) also scored.

Kiley Sill (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) and senior goalie
Lea Steen (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) all recorded assists.Â
Steen made four saves in goal. Baksa led the defense with four steals while Sill and Tihansky both had two steals.
Tihansky racked up five goals against Mercyhurst while Baksa also scored. Sill recorded three assists. Freshman
Amelia Hervey (Naperville, Ill./Metea Valley) assisted on two goals while Strahorn registered an assist.Â
Tihansky paced Grove City's defensive efforts with four steals. Steen stopped three shots.
Grove City will host Washington & Jefferson at 10 a.m. Friday to open Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III play at James E. Longnecker Pool. The Wolverines will host two days' worth of CWPA Division III action Friday and Saturday.
