KENOSHA, Wis. -- The Grove City College women's water polo team concluded its Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III conference schedule March 15 by dropping a pair of decisions at Carthage College. Macalester edged Grove City in the opener, 12-0, while CWPA-leading Augustana (Ill.) doubled up the Wolverines, 14-7, in the second clash of the day.
Sophomore
Frances Baksa (Longwood, Fla./Lake Mary) fired in five goals against Macalester while classmate
Emma Strahorn (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn) scored three times. Senior
Kiley Sill (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) and junior
Shastyn Tihansky (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton) also scored.Â
Sill also assisted on three goals. Tihansky and freshman
Amelia Hervey (Naperville, Ill./Metea Valley) both recorded two assists.
Senior
Lea Steen (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) made two saves in goal.
Augustana pulled away from Grove City (3-5 CWPA) by outscoring the Wolverines in the fourth period, 5-0. Baksa scored a trio of goals while Hervey scored twice. Strahorn and Tihansky also posted goals.
Sill recorded four assists. Hervey and Strahorn also supplied assists. Steen stopped three shots.
Grove City will visit Penn State Behrend at 4 p.m. Saturday in a non-conference clash between CWPA Division III foes.
