ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Grove City College women's water polo team concluded its season-opening trip to Minnesota by dropping a pair of matches February 15 at Macalester. Virginia Military Institute downed Grove City in the opener, 20-8, while Carthage outlasted the Wolverines for a 13-8 decision in the second match of the day.

Shastyn Tihansky (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton) pacing the Wolverines with three goals. Sophomore
Frances Baksa (Longwood, Fla./Lake Mary) scored twice while senior
Kiley Sill (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne), freshman
Emily Addison (Eads, Tenn./Faith Heritage Christian) and freshman
Amelia Hervey (Naperville, Ill./Metea Valley) all added scores.Â
Sophomore
Emma Strahorn (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn) notched two assists. Addison, Hervey, Sill and Tihansky also had assists.Â
Senior goalie
Lea Steen (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) made five saves. She also led the defense with three steals.Â
Baksa fired in three goals against Carthage. Tihansky tallied twice while Addison, Sill and senior
Candace Scalise (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence) also posted goals for the Wolverines. Addison assisted two goals while Baksa, Steen and Strahorn also recorded assists.Â
Baksa racked up four steals. Steen stopped four shots.Â
The Wolverines return to action February 22 with a pair of matches in Washington, Pa. The Wolverines face Washington & Jefferson in the 10 a.m. opener, then play Gannon at 2:45 p.m.
