Grove City dominates All-PAC awards

GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Grove City College men's lacrosse team captured four individual awards while placing 13 men on the 2025 All-Presidents' Athletic Conference teams, as recently voted upon by the conference's head coaches.

Senior attack Zachary Hougan (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) earned the conference's Offensive Player of the Year while senior defender Zach Furry (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) captured Defensive Player of the Year distinction.

Graduate student faceoff specialist Luke Rios (Centennial, Colo./Cherry Creek) earned the league's Specialist of the Year and head coach Alec Jernstedt secured Coach of the Year honors.

Six players joined Furry, Hougan and Rios on the conference's First Team: senior attack Matt Blythe (Mendon, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima), sophomore long stick midfielder Nathaniel Clark (Oakwood, Ohio/Oakwood), senior midfielder Alec Jones (Chesterfield, N.J./Notre Dame), junior defender Sam Stevenson (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove), graduate student goalie Danny Stone (Chantilly, Va./Flint Hill) and senior short stick defensive midfielder Trey Zabroski (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood).

Graduate student midfielder Luke Jayne (Vero Beach, Fla./Saint Edward's), senior defender Tyler Curry (Huntington Beach, Calif./Mater Dei) and sophomore midfielder Sawyer Strong (Westfield, Ind./Westfield) all earned Second Team recognition.

Sophomore midfielder Logan Fox (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Christian) merited Honorable Mention All-PAC.

Hougan repeated as the conference's Offensive Player of the Year after leading the Wolverines with 50 goals, 38 assists and 88 total points. He capped his senior season Saturday by posting two goals and four assists in the Wolverines' NCAA Tournament second round game at No. 4 Christopher Newport.

Hougan became Grove City's career leader in assists in Saturday's game as he concluded his career with 116 assists. He also finished with 259 career points, the No. 3 mark in program history.

Furry anchored a Grove City defense that posted an 8.38 goals-against average this season, including a 2.88 mark in conference play. He caused 11 turnovers while also helping the Wolverines limit six opponents to 10 or fewer shots on goal.

This is Furry's second All-PAC honor. He earned Second Team recognition in 2024.

Rios made immediate contributions for the Wolverines in his first season at the College. He won 66.2 percent (180 of 272) of his faceoffs this spring while also leading the team with 83 ground balls. Rios led the conference in faceoff percentage while adding a pair of goals and three assists this season.

Blythe earned First Team All-PAC for the fourth consecutive season. He fired in 41 goals the squad, the No. 2 figure on the squad. Blythe also had 14 assists and finished with 55 points.
Blythe concluded his career with 215 goals and 273 points, ranking second in program history in both categories.

Clark earned his first All-Conference citation after playing an integral role in the Grove City defense this season at long stick midfielder. Clark caused 12 turnovers, including two in the Wolverines' NCAA second round game at Christopher Newport. He also picked up 22 ground balls.

A two-year letterman, Clark has played in 37 career games for the Wolverines on defense.

The versatile Jones earned his second All-PAC honor after being a Second Team selection as a freshman in 2022. He fired in 17 goals and added a dozen assists this year. Jones highlighted Grove City's postseason run by scoring three goals last Wednesday in Grove City's 18-3 win over Albion in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

He concluded his career with 64 goals in 79 appearances.

Stevenson led Grove City with 18 caused turnovers from his defender post in 2025. He teamed with Clark and Furry to help lead the Wolverines' stout defense. Stevenson earned First Team All-PAC for the second straight season.

Stone ranked second in the conference with a .541 save percentage. He earned eight wins this year, giving him a program-record 31 victories for his career. Stone also picked up a career-high 39 ground balls this year.

Like Stevenson, Stone repeated as a First Team All-PAC selection.

Zabroski also earned his second straight First Team All-PAC honor at short stick defensive midfielder. The 2024 PAC Specialist of the Year, Zabroski caused 16 turnovers this year and picked up 46 ground balls.

He also contributed a pair of goals and 16 assists in 2025.

Jayne earned Second Team All-PAC for the third straight season as he posted 20 goals and 10 assists in 16 games. His 51 career assists rank seventh in program history while his 70 goals are ninth on the program's career leaderboard.

Curry emerged as a key cog in Grove City's defensive effort this spring. A first-year starter and four-year letterwinner, Curry played in all 22 games and caused seven turnovers. He added a dozen ground balls.

Strong debuted in 2025 by scoring 30 goals and adding 15 assists from his attack position. In conference play, Strong led Grove City with 21 goals, 14 assists and 35 total points. He missed the 2024 season due to injury.

Fox led Grove City's field players with 50 ground balls. He played in all 22 games, posting two goals, five assists and eight caused turnovers. This is his first All-PAC honor.

Jernstedt earned Coach of the Year for the sixth straight season after piloting the Wolverines to an 8-0 conference record and the program's sixth straight conference title. Grove City won the conference title May 3 with a 22-7 home win over Chatham in the conference tournament title game.

Jernstedt now owns a 90-43 record in eight seasons as the Wolverines' head coach.

The Wolverines finished 14-8 overall. Six of the eight losses came to teams that qualified for the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
