TOWSON, Md. -- The Grove City College men's lacrosse team opened the 2026 season Friday afternoon by dropping a 24-9 decision to national powerhouse Salisbury (2-0) in non-conference action at Calvert Hall College High School.
Senior attack
Mac Faircloth (Greensboro, N.C./Page) fired in four goals for the Wolverines while junior attack
Davis Schneider (Winfield, Ill./Wheaton Academy) scored twice. Senior attack
Rigdon Greene (Marietta, Ga./Pope), senior defender
Sam Stevenson (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove) and freshman midfielder
Tucker Saums (Greensboro, N.C./Northwest Guilford) added goals for Grove City.
Greene also assisted a goal, as did junior midfielder
Logan Fox (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Christian), junior attack
Sawyer Strong (Westfield, Ind./Westfield) and freshman midfielder
Mason Lyons (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township).
Salisbury jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first quarter but goals from Faircloth and Strong cut the lead to 3-2 six minutes into the period. Salisbury scored consecutive man-up goals in a 44-second span, however, and pushed the lead to 7-2 by the end of the first period.
Senior faceoff specialist
Colton Lehberg (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Santa Fe Christian) picked up a team-leading eight ground balls while junior defender
Nate Clark (Oakwood, Ohio/Oakwood) recorded four ground balls. Strong, junior midfielder
Breck Peacock (Wayne, Ill./Wheaton Academy) and senior defender
Andrew Glasgow (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) all collected three ground balls.
Glasgow also caused two turnovers. Graduate student defender
Samuel Busby (Doswell, Va./Patrick Henry) led the Wolverines with three caused turnovers.
Salisbury outshot Grove City, 62-28, including a 34-18 edge in shots on goal. Grove City had 21 turnovers while Salisbury committed 18 turnovers.
Senior goalie
Tyler Gladstone (Marriottsville, Md./Marriotts Ridge) made 10 saves for Grove City.
Grove City will open its home schedule next Saturday at 3 p.m. by hosting Ohio Wesleyan in non-conference action at Robert E. Thorn Field.
