Box Score 2 LITTLE RIVER, S.C. -- The Grove City College softball concluded its Spring Break trip Friday by splitting a pair of games at North Myrtle Beach Park. After dropping a 4-2 verdict to Albion in Friday's opener, the Wolverines secured an 18-1 win over Valley Forge in the finale.
Grove City (5-4) jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first inning against Valley Forge, then added six more runs in the second inning.
Sophomore second baseman
Abby Stouffer (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim) tripled and scored two runs while freshman third baseman
Sydney Shay (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) doubled. Junior catcher
Jonalyn Wharry (New Castle, Pa./New Castle) and sophomore pitcher
Alexis Jackson (Coventry Township, Ohio/Coventry) both singled twice.
Junior center fielder
Noel Anthony (Clarion, Pa./Clarion) scored twice and drove in three runs. Junior DP
Lily DeMeio (Butler, Pa./Butler) scored twice and knocked in two runs, as did senior second baseman
Maci Linhart (Columbiana, Ohio/Columbiana).
Senior right fielder
Annika Rinehart (McDonald, Pa./Fort Cherry) scored twice and sophomore left fielder
Evelyn Montone (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) knocked in a pair of runs.
Jackson struck out four and allowed one hit in three scoreless innings. She recorded the win. Freshman
Ellie Day (New Marshfield, Ohio/Alexander) allowed no earned runs in two innings of relief.
DeMeio's two-run single in the fourth inning gave Grove City a 2-1 lead over Albion in the opener. The Britons tied the game in the fifth, then scored twice in the top of the seventh.
Montone and junior catcher
Kristin Tesch (Clinton Township, Pa./Chippewa Valley) both doubled for Grove City.
Sophomore pitcher
Abigail Meadors (Warren, Ohio/Champion) allowed three earned runs in seven innings. She struck out four and walked one, but took the setback.
The Wolverines open the northern portion of the 2025 schedule Saturday, March 15 at Pitt-Greensburg.
