LATROBE, Pa. -- The Grove City College softball team closed the 2026 season Friday evening by dropping a pair of one-run road decisions to Saint Vincent in a Presidents' Athletic Conference doubleheader. Saint Vincent (20-16, 12-10) scored in the bottom of the ninth inning of Game One to earn a 5-4 win. The Bearcats then scored in the home half of the seventh inning of the nightcap, pulling out a 7-6 decision.
Grove City (19-15, 10-12) trailed 6-5 in the seventh inning of the nightcap but tied the game with one out when senior designated player
Kristin Tesch (Clinton Township, Mich./Chippewa Valley doubled in freshman pinch runner
Zoie Bhat (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany). The Wolverines stranded junior pinch runner
Abby Stouffer (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim), however.Â
Saint Vincent broke the tie when Macie McHugh singled in Abby Bauer. Bauer led off the inning with a single and advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt from Taylor Williams.Â
Grove City jumped out to a 5-0 lead as freshman first baseman
Cora Myers (Blanchard, Pa./Central Mountain) and freshman third baseman
Zoey Lindner (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) both cracked run-scoring doubles in the first inning while junior pitcher
Alexis Jackson (Coventry Township, Ohio/Coventry Township), sophomore right fielder
Sydney McBride (Gainesville, Va./Battlefield) and sophomore catcher
Sydney Shay (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) all drove in runs with singles.
Saint Vincent scored three times in the bottom of the third inning, tied the game in the fourth inning and then pulled ahead, 6-5, in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Jackson went 3 for 3 while Shay also doubled in Game Two. Lindner finished 2 for 3.Â
Jackson pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed five earned runs. Junior
Abigail Meadors (Warren, Ohio/Champion) pitched two innings of relief and allowed one run. Meadors (8-8) took the setback.
Meadors threw a complete game in the opener, allowing five earned runs in 8 1/3 innings. Tesch paced Grove City's 11-hit attack by going 3 for 4. McBride finished 2 for 5, as did junior left fielder
Evelyn Montone (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) and senior center fielder
Noel Anthony (Clarion, Pa./Clarion).Â
Myers gave Grove City a 1-0 lead in the first inning by doubling home Anthony. Montone doubled the lead in the next inning when her single scored Tesch. McBride scored on an error in the fourth inning while Anthony singled in Lindner later in the frame.
Grove City left 14 runners on base in Game One, including eight in scoring position. Game One marked Grove City's fifth extra-inning defeat in conference play this year.Â
Montone finishes the season on a 17-game hitting streak. She hit .492 (32 for 65) during those 17 games. Myers finished with 30 runs batted in, the No. 3 single-season figure in program history.Â
Grove City will lose Anthony and Tesch to graduation. Anthony tied the program record by playing in 142 career games. Tesch hit a career-best .379 as a senior.
