BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- The Grove City College softball team completed its suspended game Tuesday afternoon with Presidents' Athletic Conference rival Geneva as the Wolverines dropped a 7-3 decision. Grove City trailed 5-2 in the top of the fifth inning last Wednesday when lightning halted the game in Grove City.
Grove City (17-11, 9-9) pulled to within 5-3 in the bottom of the fifth as junior left fielder
Evelyn Montone (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) belted a solo home run. Geneva scored twice in the top of the sixth inning, however, to retake control of the game.
Montone and freshman third baseman
Emma Vok (Wintersville, Ohio/Indian Creek) both had run-scoring doubles in the game. Grove City finished with eight hits.Â
Junior pitcher
Abigail Meadors (Warren, Ohio/Champion) allowed four runs in five innings. Junior
Alexis Jackson (Coventry Township, Ohio/Coventry) pitched the final two innings in relief and yielded three runs.
Grove City concludes its home schedule Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. by hosting Hiram (11-17, 10-8) in a conference doubleheader.
