GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College softball team closed the 2026 home schedule Wednesday by splitting a Presidents' Athletic Conference doubleheader with visiting Hiram (12-18, 11-9) at College Field. Grove City (18-12, 10-10) won the opener, 3-2, while Hiram pulled out a 6-3 victory in the nightcap.
Grove City scored twice in the bottom of the sixth inning to secure the Game One victory. Freshman first baseman
Cora Myers (Blanchard, Pa./Central Mountain) and freshman shortstop
Lily Meidl (Pataskala, Ohio/Licking Heights) opened the inning with back-to-back doubles. After driving in Myers with the tying run, Meidl scored on an error to give Grove City the lead.
Grove City took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning as junior pitcher
Abigail Meadors (Warren, Ohio/Champion) drove in freshman pinch runner
Zoey Lindner (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) with a single to center field.
Meadors earned the win by throwing a complete game. Meadors (8-6) struck out four and walked one in seven innings. Hiram out-hit Grove City, 11-4, in Game One.
Junior left fielder
Evelyn Montone (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) went 4 for 4 with two runs scored in the nightcap while Meidl finished 2 for 4. Meidl's first-inning single scored Montone after Hiram had taken a 1-0 lead in the top half of the inning.
Sophomore right fielder
Sydney McBride (Gainesville, Va./Battlefield) drove in freshman pinch runner
Zoie Bhat (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) with a single in the sixth inning while Montone scored on a Myers groundout in the seventh.
Junior pitcher
Alexis Jackson (Coventry Township, Ohio/Coventry) allowed two earned runs in seven innings. She yielded eight hits and took the defeat.Â
Montone now owns a 15-game hitting streak. She is hitting .518 (29 for 56) in that span.
The Wolverines conclude the regular season Friday by visiting conference rival Saint Vincent (18-16, 10-10) at 3 p.m.
