PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's track and field team opened its outdoor schedule Friday and Saturday by competing in the Carnegie Mellon Invitational, held at Gesling Stadium.
Senior
Ryan Lenhart (New Castle, Pa./Shenango) posted Grove City's top finish at the two-day meet by taking second in the discus. Lenhart recorded a school-record throw of 164 feet, 1 inch.
Junior
Alex Mitchell (Hummelstown, Pa./Harrisburg Christian) earned third overall in the 400 meters with a Grove City-record time of 47.90 seconds. He finished first among Division III sprinters. Mitchell also finished first among D-III sprinters in the 200 with a time of 21.76 seconds. He took sixth overall in that event.

Brandon Kendrew (Harmony, Pa./Seneca Valley) and freshman
Jeremiah Knowles (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) captured seventh in the 400-meter relay with a time of 43.35 seconds.
Lenhart also finished seventh in the shot put with a mark of 49-2 1/2. Senior
Nick Petucci (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) took ninth in the long jump with a best leap of 20-9. He added an 11th-place finish in the triple jump (42-8 3/4).
Freshman
William Britton (Westfield, Ind.) cleared 13-10 1/2 in the pole vault to take ninth place. Junior
Michael Singley (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita) took 10th in the steeplechase with a time of 10:00.40. Junior
Michael Chambers (Bridgeville, Pa./Canon-McMillan) earned 11th in the pole vault with a best height of 13-4 1/2.
The Wolverines will compete next Saturday at Slippery Rock University's Dave Labor Invitational.
