GENEVA, Ohio -- The Grove City College men's indoor track and field team produced a pair of event winners Saturday at the SPIRE Institute Midwest Open. Freshman
Elijah Divito (Pittsburgh, Pa./Eden Christian) won the high jump in record-setting fashion while senior
Alex Mitchell (Hummelstown, Pa./Harrisburg Christian) captured the 400 meters.
Divito won the high jump by clearing a program-record 6 feet, 6 3/4 inches. Mitchell, meanwhile, won the 400 in a time of 48.74 seconds.
Sophomore
William Britton (Westfield, Ind.) took fourth in the pole vault by clearing 14-3 1/4. Senior
Michael Chambers (Bridgeville, Pa./Canon-McMillan) followed in fifth by clearing 13-9 1/4.
Sophomore
Jeremiah Knowles (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) took fifth in the 400 with a time of 50.03 seconds. Divito added a sixth-place effort in the long jump, marking at 21-8 3/4. Senior
Tucker Owens (Gainesville, N.Y./Letchworth) earned seventh in the pole vault (13-3 1/2) while sophomore
Caleb Haley (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) took seventh in the triple jump with a top leap of 41-2 1/4.Â
Freshman
Colsen Frank (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) took eighth in the 3000 meters with a time of 8:56.12. Haley and Frank both finished first among Division III competitors in their respective events.
Grove City returns to action next Friday and Saturday at the Youngstown State Mid-Major Invitational.
