BEREA, Ohio -- The Grove City College women's track and field team earned third place out of 10 teams Friday night at the Baldwin Wallace Mid-February Meet. Grove City finished with 77 team points. John Carroll won the team title with 134.5 points.
Three Grove City athletes recorded runner-up finishes. Senior
Anna Rose Sayles (Shelby, N.C./Homeschooled) earned second in the shot put with a season-best effort of 37 feet, 3 inches. Junior
Danika Sudar (Monaca, Pa./Seneca Valley) finished second in the weight throw with a toss of 44-11, which breaks her own school record.Â
Freshman
Elly Bruner (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) cleared 4-10 1/4 in the high jump, good for second place.Â
Junior
Ella Lyle (Hurricane, W.Va./Ignite) led Grove City on the track by finishing third in the mile with a time of 5 minutes, 52.35 seconds. Freshman
Bonnie Pittman (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) placed fourth in the 400 meters (1:11.88) while junior
Abigail Gehman (Medina, Ohio/Medina) finished fourth in the 3000 meters with a time of 12:19.66.
Bruner earned fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 33-7 1/2.
Senior
Paige Cotton (Knox, Pa.) finished fifth in the 55 hurdles (9.95) and sophomore
Megan Wise (West Sunbury, Pa./Moniteau) took fifth in the shot put (35-2).
Grove City returns to action Saturday at the SPIRE Invitational in Geneva, Ohio.Â
