Grove City Women's Soccer -- 2021 Season Preview

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Nine returning starters and several other key contributors will help lead the Grove City College women's soccer team in the fall 2021 season. Grove City went 9-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference last spring and also won conference titles in the fall 2018 and fall 2019 campaigns.

A trio of seniors will help lead Grove City this fall as midfielder Lillian Kimpel (Canfield, Ohio/South Range), defender Tirzah Lloyd (Durham, N.C./Homeschooled) and forward Jacqui Netschert (Pittstown, N.J./North Hunterdon) prepare for their fourth season.

Kimpel scored twice last season and will pursue a full-time spot in the lineup this season after making seven appearances in spring 2021.

Lloyd earned All-PAC and CoSIDA Academic All-District recognition in each of the last two seasons. She will anchor the Grove City defense from her center back position while also providing additional offensive punch. Lloyd scored a career-best six goals in 12 matches last spring.

Netschert has played in 47 career matches and will contend for a full-time starting assignment after making two starts last spring.

Junior forward Hailey Weinert (Landenberg, Pa./Kennett) earned Second Team All-PAC last spring after sharing the team lead with seven goals. She will likely again be an integral part of Grove City's offensive attack.

Fellow junior Lydia Sedjo (West Chicago, Ill./Wheaton Academy) started seven of the final eight matches last spring at defender and looks to maintain a starting spot in the back.

Junior midfielder Melia Lamie (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) emerged as one of Grove City's top reserves in spring 2021 as she appeared in a career-high 12 matches. Lamie aims to break into the starting lineup this fall.

Junior defender Danae Hurd (Spring Mills, Pa./Penns Valley) played in the final seven matches last spring and is competing for a greater role in fall 2021.

Grove City's deep and talented sophomore class paid immediate dividends last spring for the Wolverines and will again play a major role in Grove City's fortunes this fall.
Six freshmen started 10 or matches for Grove City last spring, including the conference's Newcomer of the Year, Gianna D'Amato (Maywood, N.J./Hawthorne Christian).

D'Amato shared the team lead with seven goals and added a team-leading seven assists from her forward spot in spring 2021. She will likely be a key component of the Grove City offense again this fall.

Sophomores Anna Jenkins (Lynchburg, Va./Lynchburg), Megan Mathes (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle), Rachel Sullivan (Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) and Emily White (Fairview, Pa./Fairview) all started throughout the spring season at midfielder and are expected to be integral parts of the lineup again this year.

Sophomore Annalese Aderholt (Wheeling, W.Va./Wheeling Park) started all 12 matches at defender last spring and quickly enhanced an already strong backline. She helped Grove City compile a 0.40 goals-against average last spring. Aderholt will likely be a fixture at defender again this fall.

Sophomores Molly Ehrhart (York, Pa./York Suburban), Holly Grose (Kailua Hawai'i/F.H.S.A.A.) and Aly Mapes (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) all saw action as reserves last spring and are expected to challenge for expanded roles this year.

Head coach Melissa Lamie expects several newcomers to compete for time this fall.

The Wolverines open their 30th season of intercollegiate play September 1 at Mount Aloysius. Grove City hosts Allegheny in the home opener Saturday, September 4. Conference play begins September 29 at Washington & Jefferson.
