GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team held visiting Franciscan without a shot on goal Wednesday night as the Wolverines secured a 2-0 win in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at Don Lyle Field. It is Grove City's fifth straight shutout victory.
Freshman forward
Emily Horst (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) scored a goal and assisted on the other Wolverine tally Wednesday night while junior midfielder
Tori Stevenson (Butler, Pa./Butler) chalked up her team-leading eighth goal of the campaign.
Stevenson gave Grove City (7-4-2, 6-0-1) the lead by scoring at 16:16. Horst assisted Stevenson's goal, which also marked her third game-winning goal of 2025.Â
Grove City maintained its one-goal lead until 77:09, when Horst scored her third goal of the season. Fellow freshman
Ady Waters (Port Clinton, Ohio/Tree of Life Christian) assisted the Horst goal.Â
The Wolverines put 15 of their 26 shots on goal. Grove City outshot Franciscan, 20-5, in the first half and finished the game with a 26-7 edge in that category. Grove City had five corner kicks while Franciscan had one.
Junior goalie
Maddie Mills (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna) earned her seventh win by playing all 90 minutes in goal. It is Grove City's sixth shutout of the season.Â
The Wolverines will visit Chatham (8-4-2, 5-2) at 1 p.m. Saturday in conference play. Grove City leads the conference with 19 points while Waynesburg University (5-0-2) is second with 17 points. Chatham is third in the 12-team circuit with 15 points. Waynesburg edged Chatham, 2-1, Wednesday night.
