GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Four Grove City College women's water polo players earned postseason honors Tuesday evening from the Collegiate Water Polo Association in recognition of their respective performances during the regular season and the CWPA Division III Championships.
Junior
Elaine Miller (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) earned First Team All-CWPA Division III honors while sophomore
Reese Trauger (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) captured Second Team All-CWPA recognition.
Three Grove City players also earned All-Tournament distinction for their accomplishments at the CWPA Division III Championships, held April 17-18 in Carthage, Wis. Sophomore
Michelle Danley (Friendswood, Texas/Friendswood) earned First Team All-Tournament honors. Miller and junior
Sophia Melanson (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) both captured Second Team All-Tournament.
Miller fired in 34 goals this season in eight games as a field player. She started in goal during the opening weekend of play before returning to the field. Miller paced Grove City with 23 assists this year. She closed the season with a five-goal, five-assist performance against Carthage in the Third Place Match at the CWPA Division III Championships.
It is Miller's second First Team All-CWPA honor. She also earned that distinction as a freshman in 2019, along with the CWPA Division III East Rookie of the Year award.
Trauger led Grove City with 38 goals this year while also ranking second with 22 assists. Trauger scored in all 10 games this year and produced multiple-goal outings in nine outings. She opened the season with a career-high eight goals March 13 against Wittenberg.
Danley capped her sophomore season by firing in nine goals against Carthage at the CWPA Championship Tournament. She scored a team-leading 10 total goals in the two-day tournament for the Wolverines. Danley finished the season with 27 goals and 21 assists. She ranked third on the squad in both categories.
Melanson earned All-Tournament honors after recording four goals and seven assists in the Wolverines' two games. She scored three times in the semifinals against Wittenberg, then posted a goal and six assists in the finale against Carthage. Melanson concluded the season with 13 goals and 20 assists.
Grove City went 4-6 overall, including a 3-4 mark in conference play.
