GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's water polo team dropped a 23-11 home decision Friday night to Division II foe Mercyhurst in non-conference action at the James E. Longnecker Pool. The setback stops Grove City's eight-game win streak.
Freshman
Elaine Miller (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) paced Grove City (9-6) with four goals while junior
Elizabeth Andrews (Newberg, Ore./Veritas) and sophomore
Tessa Leatherwood (Hurst, Texas/Colleyville Covenant) each scored three times. Senior
Abby Spicher (Erie, Pa./McDowell) also scored for the Wolverines.
Spicher also recorded four assists for Grove City while Andrews and Leatherwood each tallied two assists. Freshman
Sophia Melanson (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) also recorded an assist.
Sophomore goaltender
Alexa Dunn (Girard, Pa./Girard) stopped six shots for the Wolverines. Mercyhurst led 6-2 after one quarter, 10-4 at halftime and 16-8 after three periods.
Grove City will close the regular season next Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. against Wittenberg.
