GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Two Grove City College lacrosse players earned weekly recognition Monday afternoon from the Presidents' Athletic Conference after their respective performances last week.

On the women's side, freshman defender Gabri Hallam (Buffalo, N.Y./Clarence) captured Defensive Player of the Week distinction. Meanwhile, freshman midfielder Brock Collins (Butler, Pa./Butler) is this week's Newcomer of the Week in men's lacrosse. 

Hallam set a single-game Grove City record by causing 10 turnovers last Wednesday night in Grove City's 18-8 home win over Otterbein at Robert E. Thorn Field. She added five ground balls and five draw controls in the win. Saturday, she helped lead a defensive effort that limited Thiel to one shot in the Wolverines' 25-1 conference victory. Hallam recorded seven caused turnovers and 11 ground balls in the win.

Hallam leads the conference with 73 caused turnovers. That mark is the highest single-season total in program history. She has also picked up a team-leading 76 ground balls, a total that ranks No. 2 in the league.

Collins scored two goals, caused two turnovers, won 7 of 10 faceoffs and picked up three ground balls last Wednesday night as Grove City rolled to a 28-1 conference win at Hiram. The two goals marked Collins' first tallies of the season. 

This season, Collins has also accumulated 10 caused turnovers and 24 ground balls. He has won 25 of 41 (.610) faceoff chances. 

Both of Grove City's lacrosse teams are the top seed in the respective Presidents' Athletic Conference Championship Tournaments. The men's team will host No. 4 Westminster at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the semifinals. The women's team will host a semifinal Thursday at 7 p.m. Grove City will host No. 4 Westminster or No. 5 Bethany. Those squads meet Tuesday night in the quarterfinals.
