LYNCHBURG, Va. -- The Grove City College men's lacrosse team closed the 2026 season Saturday afternoon with a 16-15 setback at No. 8 Lynchburg in the second round of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament, held at Shellenberger Field.
The game featured 14 ties and 10 lead changes. Lynchburg's Spencer Vandenberg broke a 15-15 tie by scoring with 2:10 left in the fourth quarter. Grove City (14-8) put three shots on goal in the final 30 seconds but Hornet goalie Luca Orelli stopped all three to preserve the lead.

Breck Peacock (Wayne, Ill../Wheaton Academy) scored an unassisted goal with 3:20 remaining in the fourth period.

Mac Faircloth (Greensboro, N.C./Page) fired in a team-high four goals for Grove City while sophomore midfielder
Ethan Binns (Saint Johns, Fla./The Bolles School) scored three times and added an assist.

Tucker Saums (Greensboro, N.C./Northwest Guilford) both scored twice. Senior faceoff specialist

Tyson Bui (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) and junior defender
Evan Curry (Huntington Beach, Calif./Mater Dei) also registered goals.

Davis Schneider (Winfield, Ill./Wheaton Academy) tallied a pair of assists. Bui, Curry, McClain, Peacock and senior attack
Rigdon Greene (Marietta, Ga./Pope) also assisted goals.
Lehberg won 17 of 29 faceoffs and picked up a team-leading 10 ground balls. Junior defender
Nate Clark (Oakwood, Ohio/Oakwood) collected four ground balls. Bui caused three turnovers and graduate student defender
Samuel Busby (Doswell, Va./Patrick Henry) caused two turnovers.
Each team had 23 shots on goal. Lynchburg had 41 total shots while Grove City had 40 shots. Grove City had 14 turnovers and the Hornets committed 13 turnovers.

Tyler Gladstone (Marriottsville, Md./Marriotts Ridge) made seven saves for the Wolverines.
Lynchburg (17-3) will host York (Pa.) at 3 p.m. Sunday in the third round of the tournament. York (20-1) defeated Colorado College in the second game Saturday, 11-4.
The 2026 season marked the fifth straight year in which Grove City reached at least the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Grove City earned a 14-9 win Wednesday at Ohio Wesleyan in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
