MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Junior
Cayla Lawrence (Mendon, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) and freshman
Erika Doolittle (Clarington, Pa./Brookville) both earned victories Friday night to help lead the Grove City College women's track and field team at Allegheny College's unscored Marty Goldberg Invitational, held at Frank B. Fuhrer Field.
Lawrence won the 800 meters in a time of 2 minutes, 16.86 seconds. Meanwhile, Doolittle prevailed in the 5000 with a time of 19:59.46.
Sophomore
Julianna Lindberg (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) earned runner-up honors in the 1500 with a time of 4:48.77. Sophomore
Abigail Nelson (Cheverly, Md.) earned third in the 3000 steeplechase (12:40.86).
Three Grove City field performers also posted third-place finishes. Junior
Victoria Leak (Andover, N.H./Merrimack Valley) fired the javelin 116 feet, 3 inches to take third. Junior
Kendall Coddington (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) cleared 5-3 in the high jump, good for third place, while sophomore
Hannah Herrmann (Hilton, N.Y./Paul V. Moore) claimed third in the pole vault by clearing 11-1 3/4.
Senior
Audrey Karwowski (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) took fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 59.42 seconds. That time ranked first among Division III entrants. Junior
Annie Herrmann (Kenosha, Wis./Indian Trail) took fifth in the 800 (2:21.16) while sophomore
Sarah Sabella (Grand Valley, Pa./Grove City) secured fifth in the 5000 (20:31.19).
Sophomore
Lucy Gyergyo (Wexford, Pa./Eden Christian) took fifth in the triple jump with a top effort of 34-6 1/2. That mark ranked first among Division III triple jumpers at the meet.
Junior
Bonnie Pittman (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) finished sixth in the 400 hurdles (1:14.08) while sophomore
Megan Marchand (Cumming, Ga./Forsyth Central) placed sixth in the 400 (62.48). Sophomore
Maggie Mollenauer (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) took sixth in the 5000 with a time of 20:39.44.
Gyergyo added a seventh-place finish in the 100 hurdles, posting a time of 16.78 seconds. Senior
Megan Wise (West Sunbury, Pa./Moniteau) took seventh in the shot put (36-10 1/4) and sophomore
Hannah Roegiers (Marion, N.Y./Marion Central) recorded a seventh-place time of 27.08 seconds in the 200.
Friday's meet marked the Wolverines' final preparation for next week's Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships. The conference meet will be held next Thursday and Friday in Morgantown, W.Va.
