MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's track and field team made its final preparations for next week's Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships by competing Friday night at Allegheny College's Marty Goldberg Invitational, held at Frank B. Fuhrer Field.
Freshman
Caleb Hina (Murphy, N.C./Carolina Mountain) helped lead Grove City at the unscored meet by winning the 5000 meters. Hina posted a time of 16 minutes, 39.86 seconds to win the event.
Senior
Ethan Wiley (Mercer, Pa./Mercer) paced Grove City's field performers by taking second in the javelin. Wiley recorded a career-best throw of 185 feet, 2 inches. He finished first among Division III participants in the javelin.
Freshman
Joseph Brallier (Bedford, Pa./Bedford) captured runner-up in the 200 meters (22.39) while sophomore
Brandon Kendrew (Harmony, Pa./Seneca Valley) placed fourth in the 110 hurdles in a time of 15.85 seconds. Freshman
Nolan Gille (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) earned fourth in the 5000 (17:14.47) while senior
Tucker Owens (Gainesville, N.Y./Letchworth) placed fourth in the javelin with a top throw of 169-2.
Brallier, Kendrew, sophomore
Jeremiah Knowles (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) and senior
Michael Chambers (Bridgeville, Pa./Canon-McMillan) combined to take fifth in the 400-meter relay with a time of 44.12. Knowles also finished fifth in the 200 (22.58). Freshman
Aaron Peterson (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) placed fifth in the pole vault by clearing 12-9 1/2.
Sophomore
Caleb Haley (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) earned fifth in the long jump (20-8 1/2) and added a sixth-place finish in the triple jump with a best mark of 43-7 1/4. Sophomore
Brock Beachem (Butler, Pa./Moniteau) captured sixth place in the javelin with a throw of 156 feet, 3 inches. Freshman Isaiah Wendelmayer (Ashland, Va./Cap City) took sixth place in the 5000 meters, completing the 12 1/2 laps in 17:40.25.
Freshman
Colsen Frank (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) finished seventh in the 1500 (4:09.45) while junior
Garrett Gess took seventh in the 400 hurdles (60.20). Sophomore
Joshua Haley (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) finished eighth in the 1500 (4:10.78). Senior
Alex Barbetta (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) secured eighth in the 400 hurdles (1:00.48).
Grove City will compete in the conference championships next Thursday and Friday in Morgantown, W.Va.
