SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Senior
Audrey Karwowski (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) and junior
Cayla Lawrence (Mendon, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) both earned victories Thursday afternoon as the Grove City College women's track and field team competed at Slippery Rock University's annual John Papa Invitational, held at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.
Karwowski won the 800 meters in a season-best time of 2 minutes, 15.51 seconds. Lawrence prevailed in the 1500 by recording a season-best time of 4:46.42.
Sophomore
Julianna Lindberg (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) earned runner-up in the 800 meters with a time of 2:16.43.
Two Grove City field performers recorded third-place finishes Thursday. Junior
Kendall Coddington (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) cleared 5 feet, 3 inches to earn third place in the high jump. Sophomore
Hannah Herrmann (Hilton, N.Y./Paul V. Moore) secured third in the pole vault with a season-best effort of 11-7 3/4. Both athletes finished first among Division III entrants in their respective event.
Lawrence also took fourth in the 800 (2:20.34). Lindberg, junior
Alayna Bishop (Grove City, Pa./Grove City), freshman
Ali Parish (Memphis, Tenn./Crosstown) and freshman
Brooke Roberts (Germantown, Md.) combined for a fifth-place finish in the 1600 relay with a time of 4:54.17.
Sophomore
Nadine Lauffer (New Castle, Pa.) earned fifth in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:05.66. Sophomore
Abigail Nelson (Cheverly, Md.) captured sixth in the 5000 meters (19:42.64).
The Wolverines return to action next Friday, April 24 at the Allegheny College Invitational in Meadville.
