GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Three Presidents' Athletic Conference spring sports athletes earned Presidents' Athletic Conference weekly honors Monday in recognition of their recent respective performances.

The Grove City men's lacrosse team produced two honorees as freshman Brock Collins (Butler, Pa./Butler) captured Specialist of the Week and classmate Jake Parker (Edgewater, Md./St. Mary's Annapolis) earned Newcomer of the Week.

Senior first baseman Colin Marinpetro (Imperial, Pa./West Allegheny) earned Hitter of the Week distinction in baseball.

Collins won 11 of 18 faceoff opportunities and also caused three turnovers in Grove City's 31-8 win over Franciscan in the conference opener last Tuesday at Robert E. Thorn Field. A faceoff specialist and long stick midfielder, Collins picked up eight ground balls and recorded an assist in the win.

Parker set Grove City's single-game record with 14 points in Grove City's 31-8 conference win over Franciscan. He scored seven goals and assisted on seven other scores in the win. Parker also picked up five ground balls as Grove City opened the league schedule with a victory.

Marinpetro went 7 for 11 (.636) with a home run, double and four runs scored in Grove City's three-game trip to North Carolina February 13-14. He also walked three times, giving him a 1.714 OPS (on-base plus slugging percentage) for the week.

The lefty-hitting Marinpetro belted a two-run home run against Pfeiffer in his first at-bat of the season February 13 on his way to a 3-for-6 afternoon. Marinpetro then went 4 for 4 with a double the next day against Hampden-Sydney.

The Grove City men's lacrosse team (2-2, 1-0) will visit No. 3 Christopher Newport at 12 p.m. Saturday in non-conference action. The baseball team will travel to central Florida next week for the RussMatt Invitational during the College's annual Spring Break.
