YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Grove City College women's track and field team recorded several notable finishes Friday and Saturday at the unscored Youngstown State University Mid-Major Invitational, held indoors at YSU's Watson and Tressel Training Site (WATTS).
Grove City's distance medley relay quartet produced the Wolverines' top finish as sophomore
Julianna Lindberg (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central), junior
Annie Herrmann (Kenosha, Wis./Indian Trail), senior
Audrey Karwowski (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) and junior
Cayla Lawrence (Mendon, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) teamed up to take fifth place overall. The foursome recorded a time of 12 minutes, 38.88 seconds.
Sophomore
Nadine Lauffer (New Castle, Pa.) earned eighth in the 500 meters with a time of 1:20.97. Junior
Kendall Coddington (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) posted Grove City's top finish in the field events by taking ninth in the high jump. Coddington cleared 5 feet, 1/4 inch. She finished first among Division III high jumpers.
Lauffer also finished 11th in the 400 (60.23). Senior
Megan Wise (West Sunbury, Pa./Moniteau) earned 12th in the shot put with a best heave of 35-10 1/2. Sophomore Hannah Herrman (Hilton, N.Y./Paul V. Moore) cleared 11-4 1/2 in the pole vault to take 15th place overall.
Sophomore
Kiara White (Perkiomenville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) took 17th in the 200 meters (26.01) while Lawrence finished 17th in the 800 with a time of 2:23.68. Sophomore
Lucy Gyergyo (Wexford, Pa./Eden Christian) placed 17th in the triple jump with a mark of 33-6 1/2.
Grove City returns to action next Saturday at Penn State's Sykes and Sabok Challenge.
