CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Grove City College women's track and field team opened the spring semester of competition indoors Saturday by winning five events at Case Western Reserve's Spartan Icebreaker.
Field performers accounted for three of Grove City's five wins Saturday. Senior
Megan Wise (West Sunbury, Pa./Moniteau) won the shot put with a best mark of 36 feet, 10 1/4 inches. Junior
Kendall Coddington (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) prevailed in the long jump by clearing 4-11 3/4.
Meanwhile, sophomore
Lucy Gyergyo (Wexford, Pa./Eden Christian) won the long jump with a mark of 15 feet, 10 1/4 inches.
Sophomore
Nadine Lauffer (New Castle, Pa.) won the 400 meters with a time of 62.38 seconds while freshman
Lily Lawson (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) won the 3000 meters with a time of 12:05.21.
Gyergyo also finished second in the triple jump (33-8). Sophomore
Kiara White (Perkiomenville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) placed second in the 60 meters (8.07) while sophomore
Megan Marchand (Cumming, Ga./Forsyth Central) finished runner-up in the 400 (1:05.74). Junior
Alayna Bishop (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) took second in the 3000 (12:07.26).
The Wolverines return to action next Saturday at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
