Four earn All-Region

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Four Grove City College baseball players earned All-Region VII recognition Tuesday afternoon from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). Senior pitcher David Leslie (Butler, Pa./Butler) and senior second baseman Luke Vittone (Seven Fields, Pa./Eden Christian) both earned First Team All-Region.

Junior first baseman Colin Marinpetro (Imperial, Pa./West Allegheny) and sophomore third baseman-pitcher Sam Bevin (Louisville, Ky./Wake County) both merited Second Team All-Region honors.

Leslie went 9-2 with a 2.05 earned run average in 12 starts this season. He struck out 84 men in 74 2/3 innings while allowing only 46 hits and 24 walks. Leslie held opponents to a .178 batting average. He led the Presidents' Athletic Conference in wins, strikeouts and batting average against while ranking third in ERA. 

Leslie's 201 career strikeouts are fourth in program history while his .772 winning percentage (17-5) is third.

Vittone finished second on the team with six home runs and 48 runs batted in. His 48 RBIs ranked second in the conference while his seven sacrifice flies led the loop. Vittone hit .319 this year while becoming the program's all-time leader in runs scored (156), hits (205), games played (166) and total bases (314).

The Presidents' Athletic Conference Player of the Year, Marinpetro led Grove City with a .409 batting average this season. He belted a program-record 67 hits while also leading the Wolverines with 17 doubles, a .591 slugging percentage and a .522 on-base percentage. He cracked three home runs and knocked in 45 runs.

Marinpetro led the conference in doubles and shared the league lead in hits. His 52 runs scored ranked second in the conference, as did his 97 total bases and his on-base percentage. 

Bevin led the Wolverines with seven home runs while also hitting .370. He shared the team and conference lead with 67 hits while also driving in 43 runs. His 50 runs ranked third on the team. As a pitcher, Bevin compiled a 4-1 record, along with a 1.87 earned run average. He allowed only 41 hits and six walks in 43 1/3 innings this year. He fanned 29 batters. 

Bevin earned consensus All-Region recognition as a utility player in 2024.

D3baseball.com also honored Bevin, Leslie and Vittone as Second Team All-Region VII selections. Bevin, Leslie, Marinpetro and Vittone all earned First Team All-PAC after the season.

Region VII includes programs from the Presidents' Athletic Conference, the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, the North Coast Athletic Conference and the Ohio Athletic Conference. Cleveland-based Case Western Reserve also competes in NCAA Division VII, formerly known as the Mideast Region. 

Grove City finished 31-13 overall and set a program record for wins in a season. The Wolverines also captured their first conference title since 2008 and advanced to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament for the first time in 17 years.

The ABCA and D3baseball.com All-America teams will be announced later this week during the NCAA Division III World Series in Eastlake, Ohio.
