DAVENPORT, Fla. -- The Grove City College baseball team concluded its Spring Break trip to the RussMatt Invitational last week by winning two of its last three games. Grove City earned an 8-7 win over John Carroll last Thursday, then capped the trip Saturday with an 11-4 win over Marian (Wis.). On Friday, Roger Williams clipped Grove City, 14-10.

David Chandler (Leesburg, Va./St. John's) and senior first baseman
Colin Marinpetro (Imperial, Pa./West Allegheny) both roped two-run singles in the second inning while junior right fielder
Caleb Backos (Troy, Mich./Bloomfield Christian) cracked a two-run double in the third inning.
Marinpetro went 3 for 4 with a double while Backos finished 2 for 4. Freshman catcher
Johnny Reyes (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) also went 2 for 4 and freshman second baseman
Nick Remish (Norristown, Pa./Methacton) doubled. Junior third baseman
Treyton Sarvis (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) scored twice.Â
Freshman pitcher
Jack Guiffre (Farmington, N.Y./Victor) earned the victory by pitching 4 1/3 innings of relief. He allowed two runs and four hits while striking out two. Freshman
Graham Romer (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) started and yielded five runs in 4 2/3 innings.Â
Grove City pounded out 13 hits Saturday in the victory over Marian. Marinpetro helped pace Grove City by going 3 for 5 while Backos tripled, singled, drove in three runs and scored three times. Chandler doubled and singled, as did Reyes. Freshman shortstop
Kyle Rhineberger (Perry, Ohio/Perry) tripled and junior catcher
Adam Weber (McKees Rocks, Pa./Montour) doubled.Â
Junior pitcher
Bryce Trischler (Mars, Pa./Shady Side Academy) earned the win by pitching a season-high eight innings. He allowed four runs while striking out three. Freshman reliever
Caz Ostrowski (Essex, Mass./Covenant Christian) struck out three men in a scoreless ninth inning.
Six men had multi-hit performances Friday against Roger Williams. Remish homered as part of a 3-for-4 performance while Reyes went 3 for 3 with two doubles. Junior third baseman
Gabe Gorman (Medina, Ohio/Medina) doubled and singled in two plate appearances while Chandler went 2 for 5 with a double.
Weber doubled and singled. Sophomore right fielder
Ben Barnes (Sewickley, Pa./Avonworth) added a pair of singles.Â
Senior pitcher
Kenny Lavrich (Franklin, Pa./Cranberry) yielded eight runs in four innings, taking the defeat. Freshman
Wyatt Hopson (Middletown, Md./Middletown) pitched three innings of relief and allowed three earned runs. Sophomore
Corey Veverka (Twinsburg, Ohio/Twinsburg) pitched two hitless innings of relief, allowing one unearned run.Â
Grove City (5-6) will visit DePauw for a non-conference doubleheader Saturday at 12 p.m. in Greencastle, Ind.
