DAVENPORT, Fla. -- The Grove City College baseball team dropped a 5-4 verdict Wednesday afternoon to Illinois College in Spring Break action at the RussMatt Invitational.
Grove City (3-5) trailed 5-2 after eight innings before battling back. Freshman catcher
Johnny Reyes (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) led off with a double, moved to third on an error and scored on a groundout by sophomore DH
Kallen Durbin (Harmony, Pa./Seneca Valley).

Braeden Coyle (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) cut the lead to 5-4 when his single drove in junior shortstop
Adam Weber (McKees Rocks, Pa./Montour). Coyle went 3 for 3 to pace the Wolverines.
The Wolverines trailed 2-0 in the fifth when Reyes drove in freshman third baseman
Nick Remish (Norristown, Pa./Methacton) with a groundout. In the sixth inning, Remish's sacrifice fly scored junior right fielder
Caleb Backos (Troy, Mich./Bloomfield Christian).

Noah Mackie (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) allowed two runs in a season-high seven innings. He struck out six. Freshman reliever
Caz Ostrowski (Essex, Mass./Covenant Christian) pitched the eighth inning and took the defeat.
Grove City stranded 14 runners.
