WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Grove City College women's track and field team placed fifth out of 55 teams Wednesday and Thursday at the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Championships, hosted by Williams College. Grove City accumulated 48 team points at the two-day event.

Grace Smith (Dover, Ohio/Dover) helped lead Grove City by winning the 3000 steeplechase in a time of 10 minutes, 49.75 seconds. Senior
Ella Lyle (Hurricane, W.Va./Ignite) finished runner-up in that even with a time of 10:54.05.

Lydia Bennett (Bethel, Maine/Gould Academy) recorded two runner-up finishes as she took second in both the 800 (2:12.72) and 1500 (4:25.41). Bennett, sophomore

Julia Bauer (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) took eighth in the 10,000 with a time of 38:43.02 while classmate
Virginia Williams (Copley, Ohio/Copley) placed ninth (38:50.99).
Sophomore
Elly Bruner (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) led Grove City in the field events by taking ninth in the high jump. Bruner cleared 4 feet, 11 3/4 inches.

Hannah Costa (Harrisburg, Pa./Harrisburg Christian) teamed for a time of 48.82 seconds in the 400-meter relay, good for 11th place.Â

Lucy Gyergyo (Wexford, Pa./Eden Christian) took 12th in the triple jump with a best leap of 36 feet, 1/4 inch. Lawrence finished 12th in the 1500 (4:42.940 while White placed 12th in the 100 (12.29) and 200 (25.44).Â
Freshman
Hannah Herrmann (Hilton, N.Y./Paul V. Moore) cleared 10-3 1/2 to finish 15th in the pole vault. Lauffer took 15th in the 400 meters (58.38). Johnson captured 15th in the 1500 (4:44.30) while Smith placed 16th in the 1500 with a time of 4:45.25. Lauffer added a 16th-place finish in the 400 hurdles (1:06.26).
Karwowski placed 21st in the 400 with a time of 59.08 seconds.Â
Grove City will await potential invitations to the upcoming NCAA Division III Championships.
