GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's track and field team won eight individual track events Wednesday at the Wolverines' own Mini-Invitational, held at Robert E. Thorn Field.
Senior
Lydia Bennett (Bethel, Maine/Gould Academy) broke her own school record in the 800 meters by recording a winning time Wednesday of 2 minutes, 14.40 seconds. That marked one of four distance wins for Grove City.
Senior
Kaylynn Johnson (Otisfield, Maine/Oxford Hills) captured the 1500 meters in 4:46.84 while classmate
Julia Bauer (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) won the 5000 in a time of 18:37.71. Senior
Virginia Williams (Copley, Ohio/Copley) prevailed in the 3000-meter steeplechase as she posted a time of 11:49.55.
Freshman
Nadine Lauffer (New Castle, Pa.) won the 400 hurdles in 1:07.48.
Grove City also swept the sprint events Wednesday. Freshman
Kiara White (Perkiomenville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) won the 100 meters in 12.54 seconds while senior
Carolyn Colteryahn (Essex Junction, Vt./Essex) placed first in the 200 meters (27.41). Freshman
Megan Marchand (Cumming, Ga./Forsyth Central) won the 400 in a time of 63.53 seconds.
Additionally, the Wolverines won both relay events. Marchand, freshman
Cristiana Terhune (Uniontown, Ohio/Lake), freshman
Hannah Roegiers (Marion, N.Y./Marion Central) and sophomore
Hannah Costa (Harrisburg, Pa./Harrisburg Christian) combined for a winning time of 52.71 second in the 400 relay.
Lauffer, Marchand, Johnson and sophomore
Annie Herrmann (Kenosha, Wis./Indian Trail) posted a winning time of 4:09.83 in the 1600-meter relay.
Sophomore
Amanda McGurk (Dallas, Pa./Lake Lehman) posted Grove City's top finish in the field. She took second in the pole vault by clearing 9 feet, 2 1/4 inches.
Grove City returns to action May 1-2 at the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships. The two-day event will be held at West Virginia University.
