NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's golf team placed fifth Saturday at the Westminster Invitational, held at Avalon Field. The Wolveriens finished with a team score of 388. Host Westminster won the event with a 332, edging runner-up Mount Union by three strokes.
Sophomore
Lauren Kardos (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) captured fifth individually by shooting an 83. Junior Hailey Muñoz (Sparta, N.J./Morris Catholic) earned 11th with a 91.
Freshman
Gabrielle Kinneer (Mount Pleasant, Pa./Mount Pleasant) tied for 20th with a 104 while juniors
Rebekah Gaehring (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) and
Julianna Jacobs (Conneaut Lake, Pa./Conneaut) tied for 24th. Gaehring and Jacobs both shot 110.
Three Grove City players competed as individuals. Freshman
Sydney Goettel (Churchville, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) finished 22nd with a 105. Sophomore
Madylin Galbreath (Ellwood City, Pa./Ellwood City) took 30th with a 117 and freshman
Alyssa Shaw (Carlisle, Pa./West Shore Christian) finished 31st with a 124.
Westminster's Alyssa Rapp earned medalist with a 77. Thirty-four women competed in the event.
Saturday's tournament marked Grove City's final preparation for the upcoming Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships. The Championships will be held April 25-26 at Mill Creek Golf Course in Boardman, Ohio.
