HERMITAGE, Pa. -- Junior
Lauren Kardos (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) earned medalist honors Saturday afternoon while helping the Grove City College women's golf team place fourth out of seven teams at the Thiel Invitational, held at Avalon Buhl.
Kardos shot a 76 as Grove City finished with a team score of 381. Washington & Jefferson won the event with a 329.Â
Kardos tied with Geneva's Madison Sharek atop the leaderboard but earned medalist via a scorecard playoff. Kardos shot 37 on the front nine, then came in with a 39.Â
Senior Bekah Gaehring (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) tied for 18th by carding a 97. Sophomore
Gabrielle Kinneer (Mount Pleasant, Pa./Mount Pleasant) shot 100, good for 23rd. Classmate
Sydney Goettel (Churchville, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) and junior
Madylin Galbreath (Ellwood City, Pa./Ellwood City) tied for 37th place. Both players posted 108s.
Three Grove City players competed as individuals. Senior
Julianna Jacobs (Conneaut Lake, Pa./Conneaut) finished 30th with a 103. Freshman Mackenzie Boley (Mogadore, Ohio/Field) took 31st with a 104. Sophomore
Alyssa Shaw (Carlisle, Pa./West Shore Christian) took 40th with a 112.Â
Forty-seven women competed in Saturday's tournament.Â
The Wolverines return to action Monday, September 15 at the Saint Vincent Invitational in Latrobe.
