HERMITAGE, Pa. -- Three members of the Grove City College men's golf team placed in the top 10 Saturday at the Thiel Invitational, held at Avalon Buhl. That trio helped Grove City place third overall with a team score of 311.
Westminster won the event with a 306 while Washington & Jefferson edged Grove City for runner-up status with a 310.
Senior
Adam Steinmetz (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) placed fourth overall by shooting a 75. Senior
Max Vaughn (Lakewood, N.Y./Southwestern) and sophomore
Nathan Young (Street, Md./Homeschooled) tied for ninth as each man carded a 78.
Freshman
Luke Gronbeck (Gibsonia, Pa./Eden Christian) finished 18th by posting an 80. Senior
Aidan Allen (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington Central) rounded out the lineup with an 88, good for 42.
Grove City's "B" squad took ninth overall with a 339 total. Freshman
Will Nelson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Trinity Christian) led the second five by taking 21st. Nelson shot an 81.
Sophomore
Tyler Derstein (Telford, Pa./Dock Mennonite) finished 30th with an 84 while junior
Michael Astrab (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) placed 34th with a round of 86.
Sophomore
Daniel Artale (Lititz, Pa./Homeschooled) tied Allen for 42nd with an 88. Freshman
Seth Hartman (Harrison City, Pa./Penn-Trafford) rounded out the "B" lineup with a 92, good for 50th place.
Fifty-three men competed in Saturday's tournament. Westminster's Logan Marnik earned medalist with a 71.
The Wolverines will conclude the 2024-25 season April 25-26 at the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships in Boardman, Ohio, at Mill Creek.
