BEAVER, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's golf team entered two squads into the Geneva Invitational, held Monday afternoon at Seven Oaks Country Club. The "A" team took fourth with a team score of 340 while the "B" squad finished fifth at the seven-team tournament with a 346. Host Geneva won the event with a 323.
Freshman
Wade Springer (Topeka, Ind./Westview) led the first fivesome by taking 11th overall with an 84. Freshman
Seth Hartman (Harrison City, Pa./Penn-Trafford) and sophomore
Tyler Derstein (Telford, Pa./Dock Mennonite) tied for 13th by shooting 85.
Sophomore
Nathan Young (Street, Md./Homeschooled) placed 17th with an 86 while junior
Brian McDonnell (Seven Fields, Pa./Eden Christian) rounded out the lineup with an 87. McDonnell finished 20th.
Freshman
Will Nelson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Trinity Christian) posted Grove City's top finish Monday as he finished seventh overall. Nelson led the "B" quintet by shooting 82. Junior
Jonah Kozora (Mars, Pa./Mars) tied for 13th with 85 while junior
Michael Astrab (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) tied for 17th as he carded an 86.
Sophomore
Daniel Artale (Lititz, Pa./Homeschooled) placed 28th with a 93. Freshman
Will Whitehead (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) finished 33rd with a 96.
The tournament featured 41 competitors. Bethany's Payton Hildebrand won medalist distinction with a 76.
Grove City returns to action Saturday at the Thiel Invitational in Hermitage at Avalon Buhl.
