PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Seniors
Lydia Bennett (Bethel, Maine/Gould Academy) and
Grace Smith (Dover, Ohio/Dover) both earned wins at the two-day Carnegie Mellon Invitational, held Friday and Saturday at Gesling Stadium.
Bennett won the 5000 meters in a meet- and program-record time of 16 minutes, 56.35 seconds. Smith, meanwhile, won the 3000-meter steeplechase in a time of 10:55.83, which ranks second all-time at the College.Â
Freshman
Kiara White (Perkiomenville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) set a school record in the 200 meters with a time of 25.62 seconds. She took 10th overall and second among Division III sprinters in that event. White also finished as the top Division III entrant with a ninth-place time of 12.65 seconds in the 100-meter dash.Â
Senior
Ella Lyle (Hurricane, W.Va./Ignite) captured fourth in the steeplechase with a time of 11:23.23. White, senior
Carolyn Colteryahn (Essex, Vt./Essex), junior
Rebecca Vezzosi (Harpers Ferry, W.Va./Leonardtown, Md.) and freshman
Nadine Lauffer (New Castle, Pa.) finished fifth in the 400-meter relay (49.02).
Sophomore
Cayla Lawrence (Mendon, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) placed fifth in the 800 (2:18.75) while freshman
Julianna Lindberg (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) earned sixth in the steeplechase in 11:54.75. Lauffer took sixth in the 400 meters with a time of 59.80 seconds.Â
Sophomore
Elly Bruner (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) led Grove City in the field events by taking eighth in the high jump. Bruner cleared 5 feet, 1/4 inch. Freshman
Hannah Herrmann (Hilton, N.Y./Paul V. Moore) cleared 10-6 1/4 in the pole vault, good for ninth place overall. Lawrence added a ninth-place finish in the 1500, recording a time of 4:45.58.
Sophomore
Jordan Ebling (Myerstown, Pa./Eastern Lebanon County) took ninth in the 3000 meters with a time of 11:55.26.Â
Grove City returns to action next Saturday at Slippery Rock University's annual Dave Labor Invitational.
