GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's golf team placed second out of 14 teams Thursday at its annual McBride-Behringer-Allen "MBA" Invitational, held at Grove City Country Club.
Led by medalist
Luke Gronbeck (Gibsonia, Pa./Eden Christian), the Wolverines finished with a team score of 306. Westminster won the event with a 303. Pitt-Greensburg tied Grove City for runner-up by also shooting an aggregate 306.Â
A freshman, Gronbeck finished in a three-way tie atop the leaderboard with a round of 73 on the par-72 course. He won a scorecard playoff with Marietta's Zach Huscusson and Kelson McCurdy to capture the individual title.

Adam Steinmetz (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) tied for fifth by shooting 75. Sophomore
Nathan Young (Street, Md./Homeschooled) carded a 77, good for 15th place.Â
Senior
Aidan Allen (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington Central) placed 35th with an 81 while senior
Max Vaughn (Lakewood, N.Y./Southwestern) shot 87, placing him 61st.
The Grove City "B" squad took eighth in the team standings with a 326. Senior
Luke Kimmich (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) and freshman
Seth Hartman (Harrison City, Pa./Penn-Trafford) tied for 30th as each man shot an 80.Â
Freshman
Wade Springer (Topeka, Ind./Westview) finished 40th with an 82 while sophomore
Tyler Derstein (Telford, Pa./Dock Mennonite) posted an 84. Derstein finished 45th.Â
Junior
Brian McDonnell (Seven Fields, Pa./Eden Christian) rounded out the "B" lineup with an 85, good for 50th place.Â
The Grove City "C" quintet combined for a 339, which placed the Wolverines 12th overall. Junior
Jonah Kozora (Mars, Pa./Mars) paced that five-man unit by shooting an 80. He tied for 30th.
Freshman
Will Nelson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Trinity Christian) tied for 40th place with an 82 while sophomore
Daniel Artale (Lititz, Pa./Homeschooled) finished 55th with a round of 86.Â
Junior
Michael Astrab (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) finished 69th with a 91. Freshman
Will Whitehead (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) rounded out the "C" lineup with a 94. Whitehead finished 74th.
Freshman
Maxwell Caimano (Washington, Pa./Peters Township) competed as an individual. He tied Artale for 55th by shooting an 86.Â
The event is named in memory of three gentlemen who had a profound impact on Grove City College and its golf program: longtime trustee Milford "Miff" McBride, former golf coach and director of athletics R. Jack Behringer and longtime Grove City golf coach Bill Allen.
Grove City returns to action this weekend at the two-day Pennsylvania Classic in University Park, Pa.
