GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Grove City College women's basketball team will rely upon a balance of experience and youth this winter as the Wolverines strive to return to the top of the Presidents' Athletic Conference in 2025-26.
A quartet of seasoned seniors will lead Grove City this winter, with three of those fourth-year players handling Grove City's responsibilities in the paint.
Senior
Meredith Sherrerd (New Braunfels, Texas/New Braunfels) returns as Grove City's starting center after averaging 9.0 points and 5.8 rebounds per game last year. The 5-foot-11 Sherrerd shot a career-best 46 percent from the field as a junior and will be counted on for inside scoring again this season.
Senior
Emma Ulmer (Northumberland, Pa./Northumberland Christian) played in all 27 games while primarily rotating with Sherrerd at the center position. The 6-3 Ulmer blocked 16 shots last year while contributing 5.0 points per game. She will also be a key contributor again in the paint this winter.
Senior
Katie Hoff (Pittsburgh, Pa./Our Lady of Sacred Heart) shot 53 percent from the field last year while appearing in a career-high 15 games. The 5-11 Hoff will compete for an even greater role this year in Grove City's frontcourt.
At point guard, three-year veteran
Reese Hasley (Cheswick, Pa./Deer Lakes) will take over as the starter after playing in 77 games during her first three seasons.
Hasley averaged 7.6 points and 3.7 rebounds per night while averaging 22 minutes off the bench as a junior. Hasley has 21 career starts and will be counted on to quarterback the Wolverines' intricate offense this season.
Junior guard
Alexa McDole (Evans City, Pa./Mars) has an inside track to join Hasley in the starting backcourt. McDole shot 37 percent from behind the three-point line last year. She has played in 42 games, including a career-high 25 appearances as a sophomore.
Junior
Bethany Thompson (Exeter Township, Pa./High Point Baptist) returns for her third season in the Grove City rotation. The 5-foot-7 Thompson started 17 games last year and averaged 4.1 points per game. She will contend for a starting spot after returning from a preseason injury.
The Wolverines welcome back junior forward
Brooke McCoy (Irwin, Pa./Hempfield) after she missed last season due to injury. The 5-9 McCoy made 22 appearances as a rookie and will compete for a starting spot at forward.
Junior guard
Sarah Pifer (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) made her collegiate debut last year and played in all 27 games. Pifer bombed in 20 three-pointers while shooting 36 percent from behind the three-point line. She will be counted on for perimeter scoring this winter.
Sophomores
Kailey Devlin (Turbotville, Pa./Meadowbrook Christian) and
Alexis Hudson (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run) are both back after seeing extensive playing time as freshmen.
The 5-8 Devlin played in all 27 games last year and shot 40 percent from the field. Hudson, a 5-9 forward, saw action in 24 games. Both second-year players are contenders for the starting lineup this winter.
Sophomore
Adah Fuller (Saxonburg, Pa./Knoch) saw action in four games during the second half of the 2024-25 season and will also contend for time this year.
Six newcomers round out the 2025-26 roster. Third-year head coach
Jason Baker expects several first-year players to compete for spots in the rotation this year.
Grove City will open the regular season at home November 7 by hosting Carlow. Presidents' Athletic Conference play begins December 3 against visiting Geneva.
The Wolverines are part of the conference's North Division this season, along with Geneva, Allegheny, Hiram, Thiel and Westminster. Grove City will play those teams twice each and will play the six South Division teams once this season.
