GENEVA, Ohio -- The Grove City College women's track and field team produced several notable performances at the prestigious Midwest Open, held Saturday at SPIRE Institute.
Junior
Audrey Karwowski (Canonsburg, Pa./Canonsburg) posted Grove City's top finish Saturday as she earned fourth in the 800 meters. Karwowski recorded a time of 2 minutes, 18.65 seconds, which ranked second among Division III runners in the event.
Senior
Grace Smith (Dover, Ohio/Dover) earned eighth in the mile with a time of 5:12.94 while senior
Danika Sudar (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) produced Grove City's top finish in the field as she finished eighth in the weight throw. Sudar recorded a top throw of 45 feet, 2 1/2 inches.
Freshman
Hannah Herrmann (Hilton, N.Y./Paul V. Moore) cleared 9-10 to finishing ninth in the intermediate division of the pole vault. Grove City's 1600-meter relay team also took ninth as the foursome of Karwowski, freshman
Nadine Lauffer, freshman
Megan Marchand (Cumming, Ga./Forsyth Central) and sophomore
Annie Herrmann (Kenosha, Wis./Indian Trail) combined for a time of 4:15.07.
Sophomore
Cayla Lawrence (Mendon, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) earned 12th in the mile (5:15.46) while sophomore
Kendall Coddington (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) took 14th in the high jump by clearing 5-1.
Junior
Megan Wise (West Sunbury, Pa./Moniteau) finished 15th in the shot put (35-7 3/4) and senior
Rebecca Vezzosi (Harpers Ferry, W.Va./Leonardtown, Md.) marked at 16-5 in the long jump, good for 16th place.
Grove City returns to action next Friday and Saturday at the Youngstown State Mid-Major Invitational.
