LATROBE, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's golf team took third out of 10 teams Monday afternoon at the Saint Vincent Invitational, held at Latrobe Country Club. The Wolverines finished with a team score of 330. Pitt-Greensburg won the event with a 324 while Saint Vincent placed second by shooting 328.
Senior
Adam Steinmetz (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) tied for first by shooting 76 for 18 holes. Pitt-Greensburg's Zachary Abdallah also shot 76 and earned medalist after edging Steinmetz in a playoff on the 18th hole. Abdallah chipped in on the playoff hole.
Freshman
Seth Hartman (Harrison City, Pa./Penn-Trafford) placed fifth overall with a 79. He competed as an individual.
Senior
Aidan Allen (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington Central) and freshman
Luke Gronbeck (Gibsonia, Pa./Eden Christian) tied for 14th by each shooting 84. Junior
Brian McDonnell (Seven Fields, Pa./Eden Christian) took 22nd with an 86 and sophomore
Tyler Derstein (Telford, Pa./Dock Mennonite) rounded out the lineup with a 90. Derstein finished 43rd.
Juniors
Cayden Testa (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover) and
Michael Astrab (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) joined Hartman as individuals. Testa tied for 33rd overall with an 88 while Astrab tied for 55th with a 97.
Monday's event featured 64 men.
Grove City returns to action September 22-23 at the Allegheny Invitational in Meadville.
