Bennett qualifies for NCAA Championships

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Grove City College senior women's cross country standout Lydia Bennett (Bethel, Maine/Gould Academy) has qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships, which will be held Saturday, November 23 in Terre Haute, Ind. The NCAA announced the 2024 Championships individual and team qualifiers late Sunday.

Bennett earned her first trip to the national championships by placing second at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Championships, held Saturday at Lock Haven University. Bennett completed the six-kilometer course in a time of 21 minutes, 11 seconds. Her performance helped Grove City place fourth at the meet, which matches the best regional finish in program history.

Earlier this month, Bennett won the Presidents' Athletic Conference individual title with a time of 21:54 at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds.

Bennett is the first Grove City cross country runner to qualify for the NCAA Championships since Emily Rabenold competed at the national meet in both 2014 and 2015.

The national championship race will begin at 11 a.m.
