LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's cross country team captured 18th place at the 34-team Lock Haven Invitational by accumulating 543 team points at Saturday's meet. Division I Cornell won the event with 20 points and Division II power Wayne State placed second with 48 team points.
Sophomore
Jonah DeWitt (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) paced Grove City's seven-man scoring lineup by placing 105th. DeWitt covered the eight-kilometer course in 27 minutes, 3.70 seconds.Â
Freshman
Luke Kendrew (Chillicothe, Ohio/Unioto) earned 120th in 27:16.10 while classmate
Caleb Hawke (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) earned 124th in a time of 27:17.50. Fellow rookie
Luke Roberts (Post Falls, Idaho/Post Falls) took 146th in a time of 27:30.90.
Also for Grove City, sophomore
Nathan Striebel (Midland, Mich./Midland) placed 159th (27:41.40) and rookie
Jacob Colbert (Sagamore Hills, Ohio/Nordonia) captured 165th with a time of 27:46.10. Freshman
Calvin Doolittle (Clarington, Pa./Brookville) rounded out the lineup by posting a time of 28:09.10, good for 180th.
Cornell's Perry Mackinnon won the event with a time of 24:15.10. Cornell placed 10 runners in the top 17. The race featured 290 men.
Grove City returns to action Saturday, October 15 at the Marymount Invitational in Arlington, Va.
