GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Four Grove City College softball players earned All-Presidents' Athletic Conference recognition Tuesday afternoon, as voted on by the conference's 10 head softball coaches. Junior pitcher/designated player
Janessa Dawson (Zanesville, Ohio/Tri-Valley) earned Second Team All-PAC honors for the Wolverines. Meanwhile, senior shortstop
Lexi Buck (Akron, Ohio/Lake Center Christian), senior outfielder
Hannah Dietz (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) and freshman second baseman
Maci Linhart (Columbiana, Ohio/Columbiana) all earned Honorable Mention All-PAC.
Dawson led Grove City with a .394 batting average this year, along with a team-high 23 runs scored and a team-leading 39 hits. She cracked two home runs and finished second on the team with 55 total bases.Â
Dawson also led Grove City's pitching staff with nine wins and a 3.66 earned run average. Dawson (9-6) struck out 57 batters in 86 innings. She threw six complete games.
Buck anchored Grove City's infield while also hitting .250. She started 32 games this year and knocked in 10 runs. Buck hit .318 in Grove City's 18 conference games this season.Â
Dietz ranked second in the conference with eight home runs this season. She also ranked fifth in the league with 30 runs batted in. Dietz's .629 slugging percentage ranked 10th in the conference.Â
Dietz broke her own Grove City single-season record by belting eight home runs. She graduates as Grove City's career leader with 21 home runs and 100 total runs batted in. Dietz hit .292 this year overall and .354 in league play. Five of her home runs this season came in conference play.
Linhart took over as the Wolverines' starting second baseman and hit .329 in 27 games. She shared the team lead with three triples and ranked second on the team with 18 runs scored. Linhart hit .341 in conference action.
The conference also honored senior center fielder
Morgan Prouty (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) as a member of its Sportsmanship Team.
Grove City finished 10-8 in conference play, setting a program record for conference wins in a season. The Wolverines went 17-17 overall and qualified for the confetrence tournament for the second straight season.
